Lanneke Jones B.Mus.B.Ed. (Hons), L.Mus.A.

Lanneke Jones is a professional singer, choir director, adjudicator & teacher with extensive experience in a cappella music, jazz and early music. She is a passionate educator and believes in the restorative and therapeutic benefits of music in our lives, and loves sharing music with people of all ages.

As an educator, Lanneke has taught at SCEGGS Darlinghurst as music teacher and choral conductor for four years, and was previously Music Festival Director, Choir Director and Senior Music teacher at Loreto Kirribilli for nine years. Lanneke has been Repetiteur and Musical Director of music theatre productions and studied acting with Marian Street Theatre and ATYP. She has been a conductor of The Sydney Children’s Choir, Gondwana Voices and directed community a cappella choirs for over 20 years. Lanneke is the director of the educational program MusicNow, creating music education videos, resources, and compositions for 3-8 year olds; and also directed the Community Choir Maribella- for Hummingsong Choirs - an all female non-auditioned choir which raises funds for Women's Homeless Shelters and Outreach Programs.

As a performer Lanneke has worked with Opera Australia as a chorus member and principal artist. She was Principal Artist (Mezzo-Soprano) with the prestigious Song Company touring across Australia and internationally for six years. She has been a freelance vocal contractor (with companies such as Bach Akademie Australia, Cantabile Music, Cantillation, the Sydney Philharmonia Choir and Motet, The National Chamber Opera of Australia, Taverner and UNSW Burgundian Consorts and the Cafe Of The Gate Of Salvation) and sings at many corporate events. Her diverse performing career includes solo work with corporate jazz and pop bands, she has acted in plays and festivals, and sung on countless soundtracks, advertisements, and studio recordings.

SINGING LESSONS:

  • I deliver a considered mix of vocal pedagogy and performance techniques through a variety of singing styles: .
    • My voice training philosophy spans the teachings of Classical Bel Canto, Jazz and Popular Methods, and is guided by current findings in Science. 
    • I have personal experience teaching singing and performing Classical, Jazz, Music Theatre and Popular music.
  • I work with students to ensure their vocal skills are developed and enhanced, and model and teach solid technical and theoretical methods of voice use, physiology, repertoire and performance practice.
  • I am skilled in coaching students who may suffer from performance anxiety and deliver effective solutions to alleviate concerns and areas that need development.

  • Creative and improvisational interpretation 
  • Music theory to embed musical learning. I also use French time names and Solfege in teaching of younger students especially.
